Raised in the Midwest, made in NYC, settled down in the Hudson Valley
I am a midwestern girl at heart, originally from the suburbs of Chicago, IL. I completed a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work with a double minor in Religious Studies and Sociology in the small town of Peoria, IL at Bradley University. Subsequently, I left the Midwest and relocated to Manhattan, obtaining a Masters in Clinical Social Work focusing on evidence-based treatment modalities from New York University. After nearly a decade of city living, I settled down in the charming, mountainous Hudson Valley. I have been a licensed clinical social worker in private practice providing virtual telehealth in the state of New York since 2017.
My Approach
Over the last decade, I have consistently worked with a variety of issues related to cognitive, emotional, and behavioral health, which many well-known and effective treatment modalities can remit. Additionally, since my private practice's genesis, my specialty has awakened in the transformative realm of intimacy and relationships. In this age of overzealous rationalism, I pledge the human heart feels most abundant when close and connected to others, not just in our partnerships or families, but within the collective consciousness and community we inhabit.
Despite our zest for the modern "fast life", characterized by busyness, workaholism, and materialism, our primitive brains reflect herd animals thriving in community, connectedness, and interdependence. Many of us cannot awaken our potential because we have unconsciously conformed ourselves and lifestyles to meet the standards, expectations, and approval of others. Our propensity to be externally-focused combined with our frequent use of technology has made us vulnerable to distraction, disconnection, and a sense of false independence, where we prioritize how our lives and relationships 'look' to other people instead of what they 'mean' to us. Our capacity for effective communication, vulnerability, and creating a secure attachment in partnership must transcend what we present on paper.
My niche is working with single, married, or divorced individuals to improve their interpersonal relating and intimacy skills. Building a conscious and lasting relationship with a partner as an adult involves a dynamic exploration of how we received love, how our relational needs were met, and what we observed as intimate relating in our childhood home. I invite you into this process of releasing wounded beliefs that create internal barriers to intimacy and becoming 'the one' you wish to partner with in this world.
